Healing Sessions FAQ
How do I know if I need shamanic healing? What type of shamanic healing do I need?
Most people do, so don't worry. And you don't need to know what type of shamanic healing you need. It is enough to feel the need for something to change in your self or your life.
Do you have phone sessions?
Phone sessions are an opportunity for you to speak with Christina. Phone sessions may be scheduled to receive mentoring, guidance and direction, and/or to ask Christina any questions you may have. Phone sessions are also the first step in scheduling a long distance healing session. Phone sessions are charged at $2.00 USD per minute. If you need a reduced fee, please let us know. Phone sessions are done via the phone or can be done via Zoom. Once scheduled, you would provide the Zoom link at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled call.
How much does a phone session and healing session cost?
There is no fixed fee for a healing session. There must be an energetic exchange that is a sacrifice. What a true sacrifice is varies due to systemic economic injustice. $300 is an appropriate minimum for this work. Is this a true sacrifice for you? If it is not a true sacrifice then consider more. If it is so great a sacrifice that it would prohibit you from the work, then consider a smaller amount or breaking the fee into two payments.
Phone sessions do have a set fee of $2.00 USD per minute.
Are sessions online or in person?
We are currently offering long distance work. Your healing session begins with an intake call (via phone or Zoom) Christina asks a series of questions that begin with what persistent patterns challenge you and/or what you want help with to create change or healing.
After your initial phone session, Christina must receive your payment for your phone session, your healing session sacrifice (fee) and your photo. Once these items are received you will be added to Christina’s healing session schedule. As Christina’s time and energy allows, Christina will complete your healing session. You are not on the phone or notified when your healing session will occur.
Christina works in an altered state that facilitates the working relationship with spirit. This type of journey work with spirit moves from diagnosis into remedy and/or prescription for an alternative form of healing. This is an ancient, safe, energy efficient, and effective mode of healing.
Once your healing session has been completed, you receive a narration of the session, recorded live during the journey, and instructions for following up.
Following your healing session, Christina recommends you follow up with a phone session if you have any questions about the session and for further coaching with integration and other steps for following up with the session.
What do I do during the session?
The healing session is remote, not in person. You are not on the phone or notified when your healing session will occur. You do not need to do anything specific at the time of the session. Some people feel subtle results of the session, others initially feel nothing.
How does the session work?
The session unfolds through practitioner questions and spirit response. All session work occurs in a shamanic journey altered state induced by a drum beat. If additional modalities are needed, they are clarified in a prescription. (References will be offered in the session email, if we have them.)
What happens during the session?
In the session, Christina is in communication with her helping spirits. These are relationships developed over the past 4 decades and the teachers of the Cycle Cosmology. She is often also in communication with your helping spirits, familiar or not.
The session unfolds in the journey space, outside of space and time, in response to Christina’s skillful questions. The journey moves from diagnosis to deeper understanding of the true nature of what is encountered to remedy and healing. The journey is narrated in real time and recorded.
At the close of the session, any energies being retrieved are gathered into the practitioner’s heart, the practitioner travels to the client, and the retreived energies returned to the client’s energy body. The practitioner returns home and the healing journey is complete.
How will I know when a session has happened?
After your session has been completed, you will receive an email with a link to the recording of your session. We ask that you download the session recording to your device. You will also receive standard guidance for integration, and any specific details from the session to take note of as you listen. Christina does not provide an interpretation of the session at this stage to allow for an unbiased, personal response to the recording.
What if I have questions or need help?
Once you have listened to your healing session, we welcome you to schedule a follow up phone session. You can schedule a follow up phone session if you have questions about your healing session and/or integration, we can discuss the current status of your follow up and clarify the full integration process ahead.
Do you work with children?
Yes. In sessions for children, the responsible adult should listen to the narration first, decide what is age-appropriate for the child to hear, or choose to recount in an appropriate way for the child to engage with the work. The child must give permission, usually by asking if they want help with the particular issue in question.
What is the shamanic modality of healing being used?
The working relationship between the helping spirit and the human practitioner is central to traditional shamanic healing practiced by First Peoples. The work in this particular, task-focused trance state defines the healing as shamanic. From this perspective, the practitioner can “see” what is missing and locate the energy that needs retrieval. They can “see” the intrusive energies that have moved into the space vacated when the person fragmented and extract those energies for transformation or return to their right environment.
With the help of spirit, the practitioner can discern the different types of energy that need retrieval or extraction. The type of energy leads to healing ceremonies that look different and have different steps to follow the healing, traditionally offered as taboos or practices. But the action remains the same, retrieval or removal to restore a “right” relationship.
In traditional cultures, the practitioner is looking at both the repair of these internal relationships and external relationships. Of equal importance in healing and establishing well-being is mending fragmented relationships between the individual and the community, the spirits of the land, the land itself, and the well ancestors and descendants. These relationships are fundamental to traditional healing.
However, an individual cannot be restored to a “right relationship” that never existed in the first place.
Colonization destroys the relationships necessary for human well-being by design. Communities are systematically destroyed in the name of “civilizing the natives,” and the relationship with the land is destroyed in the name of progress. This way of valuing and thinking is fundamentally unwell and has “progressed” life on this planet into a climate crisis. It is wrong thinking.
Nonetheless, here we are.
The modality of healing at Last Mask Center is the shamanic trance that facilitates a working relationship with spirit. This work is authentic work with spirit and non-traditional because we are not practicing within the cosmology and teachings of any known culture, nation, or people.
It is also non-traditional because the majority of individuals seeking healing do not have the external relationships that supported well-being in traditional cultures. Many people are largely from a “broken path.” Often part of the session is a divinatory prescription that clarifies the steps to begin a process of building a healthy relationship with community, the spirits of the land, the Land itself, or their well ancestors.
What are common signs of a need for a shamanic healing?
Common symptoms are:
- feeling that you somehow aren't whole or something is missing
- chronic inability to do what you intend to do, loss of focus, energy or desire
- committed efforts to create a change in your life just don't pay off
- little or no response to conventional treatments or pharmaceuticals
- persistent lack of energy, vitality, emotion or passion
- confusion about boundaries and your own sense of self
- disconnection, inability to ground in your body, or dissociation
- chronic depression, anxiety, or other emotional patterns
- addiction or other behavioral patterns that are self defeating or destructive
How much history should I prepare for my intake call?
It is best to allow the practitioner to ask you questions. Unless you are a trained shamanic practitioner yourself, you probably don’t know what the practitioner wants to review. Most important is what brings you to the session. What needs to heal or change? What are your persistent patterns? What has frustrated other modes of healing? I like to understand the basics of a person’s life, the healing they have already engaged in, what they do to maintain their well being, and their familiarity with shamanic work, if any.
What if I don’t do anything to maintain my well being?
I am probably not the practitioner for you to start with. I suggest you reach out to a beginning practitioner who will have more time to support you in the basics of developing a support network, basic life skills, and personal practices for well being.
I feel like everything just leads to everything else and I never feel relief. Can shamanic healing help?
I specialize in untangling immeshed problems, for example, family dysfunction leading to soul loss that can’t integrate because of an ancestral pattern. I tracking each thread to it’s diagnosis. Where the remedy is a shamanic modality, I will do that. Where it is a different healing modality, I will do my best to clarify what you are looking for or what practices, rituals, or ceremonies to do yourself.
I already had a soul retrieval and it didn't change anything.
One of two things probably happened. Either the practitioner didn't do his/her part or they did and you were not able to integrate the soul parts. For a soul retrieval session, the integration is as important as the original retrieval.
There are many "practitioners" who are not initiated shamans. For a soul retrieval to be effective you need to work with an experienced and initiated shaman who assists you in the integration of your soul parts over the following weeks and months. It is the practitioner's responsibility to clarify what happened in the session and what you need to do to follow-up and integrate the energies addressed in the session. Christina has over 20 years experience as an initiated shaman with the healing and integration of shamanic work.
How do I know what kind of shamanic healing I need?
You don't need to know. Good sound shamanic healing involves two parts: the diagnosis and the remedy. A shamanic healer goes to spirit first to ask for the diagnosis. With this comes clarity about the true source of the problem. Then the shaman asks spirit for the remedy. All you need to bring to the session is a need for things to change and a willingness to let them.
How should I prepare for my healing session?
Your session will be remote. Let the practitioner know of specific special events, presentations, or times your concentration cannot be interrupted. Otherwise, you do not need to coordinate a time for the healing.
Your mental preparation:
- open you mind to welcome back lost parts of yourself, to let go of old habitual ways of thinking, and to allow your sense of yourself to change.
Your emotional preparation:
- Allow yourself to have some, consider creative expression to allow emotions to be felt and released
- Let go of identities like “depressed” and old emotional patterns that are no longer needed.
How can I best Integrate following a Healing Session?
This depends entirely on what happens during the session. If multiple things happen, like soul retrieval and ancestral healing there will be two different paths of integration. We provide both written guides to follow and practitioner support following the session. However, the guides are thorough, providing a step by step process.
- Soul retrieval integration: allow for 2 months integration
- Ancestral Healing: allow for 3 weeks to 3 months for clearing, depending on your skillset
I would like to work with Christina as a coach. Is this possible?
Yes and no. I do not work as a life coach for people in general. My phone sessions are primarily for active clients to followup, students to discuss course work, and Cycle Community members to receive advanced support for their healing process.
I coach people in the Teacher Training courses and offer supervision for students learning the healing forms that we teach in the Cycle Community.
Can Healing Sessions replace the therapy I am undergoing?
No. Therapy and shamanic healing are complimentary modalities. However they are different modes of healing and they do no replace each other. Therapy is a therapeutic modality that is designed to build efficacy over multiple sessions. Shamanic healing is a healing event. It is an energetic intervention that needs to be integrated over time.
